I’ve got another boudoir client interview for you guys! This time with a gorgeous mama named Courtney who is sharing why she decided to do a boudoir shoot after having kids.

Motherhood is wonderful, you bring a beautiful little life into the world and along with that little bundle, comes a lot of change. Love so crazy deep,  but also maybe feelings wondering where that woman you used to go. Or possibly feeling self-conscious about your new “mom bod”. It may sound crazy, but Boudoir photography can help you embrace your post-baby body and fall in love with yourself. It helps remind you of that woman you still are – mom and all.

Courtney is a mom of three kiddos (twins in that mix!) and her boudoir experience at my Flower Mound, TX boudoir studio has completely transformed how she sees herself. Keep reading to find out how boudoir has helped her start to love herself again.

Why did you want to do a boudoir session?

To be completely honest, I did it for myself. My husband sees me with a different set of eyes than I do. He gives me grace and doesn’t expect my body to be a certain way, especially after having 3 kids and one of those being a twins pregnancy. I look at myself with such a critical eye. Knit-picking every flaw. I needed to do this for myself. To see me in a different light. To see pictures of myself that I loved, felt sexy and powerful in. Something I hadn’t seen myself as..well.. ever. Yes, he will get some boudoir photos as a nice Christmas present, but at the end of the day, these photos are mine to cherish and use as a reminder.

What were you nervous about going into your boudoir session? 

Aside from the usual nerves that come with posing in lingerie or only a sheet (which is awesome) I was nervous that I would criticize everything that felt wrong about my body. That I wouldn’t allow myself to get into the shoot and enjoy the process. I was wrong. And that was mainly because of Alexandra.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of the boudoir shoot was a combination of Alexandra bouncing around helping me hit every pose with words of encouragement and empowering coaching to the speed that the shoot flowed. Alexandra has a presence about her that allows you to feel comfortable and confident.

She’s fluffing your hair one minute then helping you hit that “S” shape pose the next! And she does all of this with speed. The speed is key to this shoot in my opinion. You have just enough time to enjoy the pose but not long enough to even think about what flaws may be showing. As soon as that little thought creeps in, “are my love handles pushing over my underwear” she has you up and going right into the next pose that will make your body look like fire. Also, who doesn’t love having their hair and makeup done! It’s just the cherry on top!

How do you feel now that you’ve completed the session? 

“I am woman, hear me roar” to put it plain and simple. It’s like a beautiful secret world of boudoir. In real life, I’m a mom of three, never have my hair or makeup done, leggings and t-shirts and then you step into her Flower Mound, TX boudoir studio and completely transform into a woman you’ve never seen (or it’s been a while since you’ve seen her). A woman who’s oozing sex appeal in the classiest way possible and just an hour prior, I had dropped kids off at school. I gained back a part of my identity I was longing for. I remembered I could be sexy and not just a mom.

I’m about to be 30 and I’m done having kids so I really needed to relearn this new body and new phase of my life. This boudoir photoshoot brought me back and catapulted me forward all at the same time. Everyone tells you, your 30s are some of your best years. Well, Alexandra helped me take a big confident leap into starting my 30s!

Would you recommend Alexandra Jo Boudoir to others?

I couldn’t recommend her enough. I’ve already told all my mom friends who are in the same place as me. We all lose ourselves to the daily grind. But this woman and her luxury boudoir studio can pull you out of that rut and breath some life back into you!

Boudoir Outfits And Styling

For her three boudoir outfits, she went with a sheer, lace black bodysuit. A classic high waisted lingerie set, and of course these gorgeous pink “sheets”.
