The one lingerie item I almost always recommend for every client, no matter their shape, is a lace bodysuit or teddy. There are so many styling options for bodysuits and in today’s clothing lingo a bodysuit is typically something that you can wear outside of the bedroom! Yes, I said public, like out of the bedroom where people can see you! Today I’m sharing a few ideas on how you can wear the sexier version of the bodysuit in public as well and still look classy.
What Is A Bodysuit?
A bodysuit or teddy is described as a woman’s all in one lingerie garment. Kinda like a one-piece bathing suit or leotard. The two names are essentially the same except when a bodysuit is referred to as a teddy it is typically a little bit sexier. Depending on the design, bodysuits can sometimes have snaps or an opening in the crotch area to make going to the bathroom easier.
How Do You Wear A Bodysuit Outside?
Now, I’m not off my rocker, I’d never recommend that you wearing all lingerie out and about, but the bodysuit (teddy) is a piece of lingerie that is super trendy and works perfectly for both your boudoir shoot and to wear for a night out with your significant other as you grab drinks in the Fort Worth Stockyards or bar hop in Deep Ellum. A teddy can have so many different cuts and materials, so you can find one that will work for every single body type. I have a lot of lacy bodysuits/teddies in the studio closet with various leg and neck options, since lace bodysuit are some of my favorite for boudoir shoots.

Why You Should Wear A Bodysuit Out
When you wear a bodysuit/teddy out, you do not have to worry about it coming untucked as they are one piece (sort of like a one-piece swimsuit.) I think it’s a plus when going out that you don’t have to worry about your shirt bunching or moving. For me, I even love to wear a bodysuit when doing “mom things” as it stays in place well, even with picking up my little man or running errands.

How Do You Go To The Bathroom In A Bodysuit?
Well, if you’re lucky your bodysuit will have snaps in the crotch area or a cutout that makes going to the bathroom easier. If your bodysuit lacks that perk, be prepared to get fully naked in the bathroom stall as you would with a romper lol.
How To Wear A Bodysuit With Lined Cups
When picking a bodysuit that would work for your boudoir shoot and for your date night, I would recommend a bodysuit with lined cups or an underwire with a built-in bra that is not sheer. For sure, the bodice should have some sheer lace, but if the ladies are already covered, it automatically makes it a bit more like a fancy, lacy shirt. I recommend wearing your teddy with high waisted jeans and some cute heels. I’m a big believer in all black, so I love throwing on a black lacy bodysuit with black high waisted jeans.

How To Wear A Bodysuit With A Jacket
Here in Fort Worth, Texas, our fall weather is slowly coming, so on some days, a light jacket is mandatory. The great thing about wearing your bodysuit out is that if you feel a bit uncovered, all you need to do is add a simple jacket. I would recommend a fitted blazer, light jean jacket, leather jacket, or if you are going someplace fancy think about doing a light sequin jacket!

How To Wear A Bodysuit With A Bra
Another option if you are wearing a sheer bodysuit is to use nipple covers to cover the ladies or wear a bra under it! I would highly recommend a strapless bra that won’t show much. Avoid that Victoria’s Secret push up bra, and opt for a lightly lined strapless, more along the lines of Victoria Secret Angel Collection. Really, a sticky bra or nipple covers are most likely a better option, unless you feel you really need the support. But, that said, some bodysuits are very cute with a bra under and look like it could have been made that way, in that case, rock it!
Don’t Be Afraid To Rock The Bodysuit Trend!
I know, any girl who decides to wear a lingerie piece out is probably freaking out a bit internally, worried about being thought of as floozie or getting massively hit on by creepy men. My advice is to forget them and enjoy yourself! More than likely, you will get ladies coming up and telling you how cute your outfit is — and wishing they had enough courage to wear it out!
